“Copying the Ukrainian law “on deoligarchization” into the Georgian reality, when the oligarchy is in power, is a completely different situation,” said Paata Manjgaladze, a member of the Agmashenebeli Strategy.

According to him, in order to stop speculation, both bills on deoligarchization should be sent to the Venice Commission.

“During my first year, Irakli Kobakhidze was taught that copying legislation from one country to another, taking into account local characteristics, gives different results. Therefore, copying the Ukrainian law into the Georgian reality, when the oligarchy is in power, is a completely different situation. In order to stop speculation, both bills on deoligarchization should be sent to the Venice Commission. Whatever project receives a positive assessment, we must consider it,” Manjgaladze said.

Recall that in relation to the draft law “On Deoligarchization”, the EU Delegation to Georgia stated: “before the adoption of the law, it is necessary to request and implement the conclusion of the Venice Commission.”
