For 400 days they declare that the prisoner regresses daily. All this is unimaginable. We are being asked to take a political decision and release Saakashvili in order to cause unrest in the country. We cannot make such a decision, – Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of Georgian Dream, said.

He also commented on the opinion published by the Empathy Center on the state of health of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, and noted that this organization is associated with the National Movement and, accordingly, is biased.

“A certain kind of deviations, medical indications, are observed in almost everyone. Therefore, such a list in itself does not mean anything. It should be specified specifically what kind of disease, problem, pathology that causes the release of a prisoner, and what other prisoners do not have. They cannot say this, instead there are some dry talks and PR campaigns, lobbying campaigns, which is unacceptable. We are being asked to take a political decision and release Saakashvili in order to cause unrest in the country. Of course, we cannot make such a decision.

The main thing is the diagnosis, i.e. what is the actual condition of the prisoner. It is also important whether the convict complies with the prescriptions, instructions, advice of the doctors treating him, etc. For 400 days, they declare that the prisoner is regressing every day. All this is unimaginable.

The goal is to evoke empathy and sympathy, despite the gravest crimes committed by this man with particular cruelty against prisoners,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
