Expect to see continued progress in Georgia leading to NATO membership

In Bucharest, the foreign ministers reaffirmed the decision taken in 2008 regarding Georgia’s entry into NATO in the future, as well as regarding Ukraine’s entry. Therefore, the open door policy remains in place, said Alexander Vinnikov, head of the Liaison Office of the North Atlantic Alliance (NLO) in Tbilisi.

According to him, NATO is looking forward to further progress in Georgia, which will lead to its membership in NATO through the necessary reforms.

“In Bucharest, the foreign ministers reaffirmed the decision taken in 2008 regarding Georgia’s entry into NATO in the future, as well as regarding Ukraine’s entry. Consequently, the open door policy remains firmly in place and we look forward to seeing continued progress in Georgia leading to its NATO membership through the implementation of the necessary reforms, in which we are assisting Georgia,” said the head of the NATO Liaison Office.
