The chairman of the political council of the United National Movement, Koba Nakopia, intends to support Nika Melia in the election of the chairman of the party. Nakopia believes that Melia has not yet exhausted himself in this position. He also stated that Mikheil Saakashvili does not interfere in party processes.

“Saakashvili does not interfere in these processes. He does not like [происходящее в партии] and believes that now is not the time for that. Our energy needs to be directed to other issues – now we must change the government, not the party, ”he said.

According to Nakopia, the party members who demanded the election of the chairman were “a little hasty.”

“We saw a briefing about which I, as the chairman of the political council, knew nothing … We are dealing with a different phenomenon, let’s wait. I have heard many official versions, but the matter is a little different, ”said Nakopia.

Answering questions from journalists, Nakopia promised to support Melia in the elections and said that he had not yet “exhausted” all his possibilities as party chairman.
