On November 7, entertainment and educational events were held in Telavi in connection with the celebration of the Day of Heraclius II (King of Kakheti (1744-1762), and then the united East Georgian kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti).

Members of the government attended the events. Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze said that Irakli II is the best example of heroism and patriotism.

“King Heraclius is the pride of our nation and my favorite person, as probably of all Georgia, especially the Kakhetians. He is the best example of courage, heroism and patriotism that we can teach in history and that we can teach the next generations,” the minister said.

According to the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, in connection with the holiday, the Telavi Historical Museum will open an exhibition in honor of the king – “King Heraclius – the last lion of Georgia.” There will also be a presentation of a bilingual album published with funding from the Ministry of Culture.
