Quote: “Taking into account the information about placing mines at a dam of the Kakhovka Reservoir, gateways and pylons of the Kakhovka HPP, as well as a high threat of blowing up these constructions, the Energoatom is urgently analysing the impact of consequences that such an explosion will have on safety of work of the ZNPP as per the request from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine,” the statement says.

It is noted that blowing up the KHPP can lead to irreversible lowering of water levels in the Kakhovka Reservoir from which cooling water for the ZNPP is being supplied.

Energoatom will send results of the analysis and a list of priority measures to provide work safety of power units of the ZNPP in case there is no cooling water from the Kakhovka Reservoir to the State Inspectorate as of no later than 9 November.

  • External power supply to the ZNPP is restored after two-day disconnection, which happened due to occupiers’ attacks.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russians placed mines on the dam and units of the KHPP and planned to perform a terrorist attack under another flag.
