“We will figure out how the process of the Ukrainian law on deoligarchization is going, and we will act accordingly,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament.

As Shalva Papuashvili noted, the Cabinet of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament has already applied to the Venice Commission on this issue.

“To be honest, we have communication with the EU on 12 points, and we did not have any information about this from the EU. What the Ambassador of the United States of America said about the Venice Commission is news. My cabinet has already applied to the Venice Commission, we will figure out how the process of the Ukrainian law on deoligarchization is going. We know that this law is also posted on the website of the Commission and is awaiting its conclusion. So we will find out what the situation is and act accordingly. In general, it is clear that our law is a copy of the Ukrainian one, so no additional opinion was heard from the Venice Commission,” Papuashvili said.

US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said today that Ukraine has withdrawn the law on “deoligarchization” sent to the Venice Commission and is not awaiting a conclusion at this stage.
