Georgian National Guard platoon returns from Central African Republic

The Georgian Defense Forces National Guard platoon returned to the country after completing a military training mission under the auspices of the European Union (EUTM RCA) in the Central African Republic.

At the Tbilisi International Airport, the servicemen were met by the head of the National Guard, Brigadier General Roman Jokhadze and other representatives of the guard. They congratulated the personnel on a safe return and thanked them for the successful completion of the mission.

The National Guard detachment under the command of Captain Amiran Bichashvili carried out a military training task (EUTM RCA) at the Mpoko base in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, for six months. Their main task was to protect the base, motorized patrols, escort and escort.

The current EU-sponsored Military Training Mission (EUTM RCA) is a continuation of the EU Military Advisory Mission (EUMAM RCA), in which five Georgian military personnel have served since October 2015.

Prior to this, Georgia participated in the EU military mission (EUFOR RCA), where the country sent about 150 soldiers in June 2014. In December 2014, the number of Georgian troops in the mission was reduced to about 85 who had served there until March 2015.
