European Commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement Policy Oliver Varkheli at a joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili spoke about economic partnership with Georgia.

Speaking about economic projects, Varkheli noted that the center of the plans is the Black Sea, which will connect Georgia with Europe.

“Irakli Garibashvili spoke and explained our agenda on how to accelerate economic growth in Georgia and our partnership in the economic sphere so that the Georgian economy becomes stronger and more sustainable. We carry out the most important projects. An economic and investment plan is being implemented. When I visited last time, I stated that the public and private sectors of Georgia account for 3.9 billion euros. This is a very important initiative. I am glad that a significant part of these projects has already been launched. I hope that next time I visit, we will already see the results.

Of course, in this context, the Black Sea is the center of our plans. The Prime Minister has already said that the Black Sea Power Line is very symbolic for everyone. Symbolic historically, as it will connect Georgia with Europe, the Caucasus with Europe, and symbolically, because we will all see that Russia’s war in Ukraine is the background on the basis of which we need reliable partners. Reliable, loyal partners and allies, whether in the field of security, economy, but most importantly in the field of energy, and Georgia can be such a reliable and loyal partner, ally,” said Oliver Varheli.
