In connection with the explosion in Istanbul, on behalf of the government and people of Georgia, I express my deepest condolences to the Turkish people, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the families of the victims,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili wrote on Twitter.

The Prime Minister wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The explosion occurred today in the center of Istanbul, on Istiklal Street. According to the President of Turkey, six people died and 53 were injured as a result of the explosion. According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the Consulate General did not receive any notification about the affected citizens of Georgia.
