Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili met with member of the board of directors of the Japanese company TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Company), managing director for foreign business Masaki Honda.

Shalva Papuashvili welcomed the purchase of a 31.4% stake in Georgia’s Dariali Energy by TEPCO Renewable Power, part of the TEPCO Group, representing Japan’s first major investment in Georgia.

Masaki Honda spoke about the company’s main activities in Georgia. The Japanese side noted that due to renewable energy sources, the regulatory environment and the geographical location of the country, Georgia is a favorable place for foreign investors.

The parties also discussed possible areas of joint projects, including the development of renewable energy.
