This was announced today by the Association of Airports of Georgia.
Last month’s figures are almost 30% higher than the figures for August pre-pandemic 2019. Then the Kutaisi airport served less than 88 thousand passengers.
The record was also recorded in terms of the rate of increase in the number of flights at the airport. In August, their number increased by 64%, up to 450 flights. For comparison, in August 2019, Kutaisi Airport served only 274 flights.
Director of the Association of Georgian Airports Tamar Archuadze explained that such figures were the result of the return of the second aircraft of the European low-cost carrier Wizz Air to Kutaisi Airport, as well as the appointment of regular charter flights of the Indian airline SpiceJet.
“Our positive expectations regarding the growth of air dynamics have come true again,” said Archuadze.
At this stage, six airlines operate at Kutaisi Airport, which operate regular flights to 28 destinations in 17 countries.
