The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia announced on August 21 that an investigation had been launched into the discovery of ammunition (presumably explosive devices of the F-1 type – hand grenades) on two illegally installed metal poles near the Tskhinvali occupation line in the village of Iri, Onsky municipality.

According to the same information, the sappers, for security purposes, destroyed the found training and sound grenades with a plastic case. The agency did not specify the number of hand grenades.

The case is being investigated under article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on the illegal acquisition, storage, carrying, manufacture, transportation, transfer or sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices.

The online publication Publica writes, citing the information of the founder of the anti-occupation movement Strength in Unity, David Katsarava, that during a patrol in the village of Iri, they found a hand grenade and reported it to the relevant authorities.
