Estonia has approved a new military aid package for Ukraine, including mortars and anti-tank weapons – as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia.

Additionally, Estonia plans to support the U.K.’s initiative to expand the scope of training of Ukrainian forces and supply a field hospital to Ukraine in cooperation with Germany.

“The fighting in Ukraine continues to be intense. Although more and more western weaponry is reaching the frontlines, our moral responsibility is to continue supporting Ukraine. They are fighting for our shared values, and if there is anything we can send to the Ukrainians, we have to do so,” reported the Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevkur.

The Minister also added that the Estonian Defense Forces are particularly experienced in training reservists to carry out combat operations in an intensive war against a larger adversary. Besides weapons and training, Estonia is going to support the medical capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For this, Estonia, in cooperation with Germany, is providing Ukraine with a second field hospital.

Pevkur stated that the West must continue to be prepared for a Russian information war and propaganda, especially fake information that suggests the West has grown tired of supporting the war and that aid provided to Ukraine is ineffective.

“Just as the aid that has already been provided clearly shows that we are not tired, our Allies have all confirmed their readiness to help Ukrainians in their freedom war as long as it is needed,” added Pevkur.

On Aug. 11, the government of Estonia adopted the decision to close the borders for citizens of the Russian Federation with Schengen visas issued by the republic.

Estonia “has decided to no longer accept people from Russia, who are #Schengen visa holders that has been granted by [Estonia], to enter the country. I call on other governments to follow such steps,” Reinsalu tweeted.

Estonia has provided military aid to Ukraine worth 250 million euros. This includes Javelin anti-tank missile systems, howitzers, anti-tank mines, anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars, diverse light weapons, ammunition, vehicles, means of communication, medical equipment and supplies, personal protective equipment (helmets, body armor), as well as food rations.
