The United States is considering sending a Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine to support air defenses against Russian attacks. This was reported to journalists by a senior Pentagon official, European Pravda writes with reference to CNN.

“All possibilities are on the table,” the official said, when asked whether the US was considering sending Patriot batteries specifically to Ukraine.

“Patriot is one of the air defense systems that are being considered,” the official added.

The Patriot Anti-Aircraft Missile System is designed to counter and destroy incoming short-range ballistic missiles, aircraft, and cruise missiles.

Ukraine’s air defense is a “top priority” for the US, the official added.

“We’re looking at all the options that can help the Ukrainians counter Russian attacks, so all the options are on the table, and we’re looking at what the United States can do, what our allies and partners can do, and we’re looking at combinations of options that would be useful.” – added the official.

As you know, Berlin offered Warsaw a Patriot airspace security system after a rocket fell in Poland last week, killing two people.

Later, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak asked Germany to send Patriot systems to Ukraine in return.

Germany said it was discussing with its allies a Polish request to send German Patriot systems to Ukraine.
