We can step up our support for Georgia

When asked what additional steps Georgia should expect from the ministerial in Bucharest and what commentary Stoltenberg would give on the decision of the European Parliament to declare Russia a sponsor of terrorism, the head of the North Atlantic Alliance replied:
“We will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia together with the Ministers of Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina. I think that the very fact that we are meeting in Bucharest testifies to our strong political commitment, to the support of these very valuable partners. Georgia is a very valuable partner, and we know that these partners are objects of Russian interference.
Georgia witnessed Russian military aggression in 2008, and large areas of it are still controlled by Russian-backed forces. So now it becomes even more important to work with Georgia, to strengthen our cooperation with this country, to increase its resilience, to help Georgia defend itself. We can also increase our support for Georgia by building on the substantial NATO-Georgia package and continuing our practical and political cooperation,” Stoltenberg said.
