Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze received German Ambassador to Georgia Ernst Peter Fischer. At the introductory meeting, the parties discussed issues of relations between Georgia and Germany and future cooperation.

The mayor of the capital thanked the ambassador for supporting Germany’s European aspirations and Georgia’s territorial integrity. Kaladze stressed the importance of cooperation between Tbilisi and the sister city of Saarbrücken.

“I am very glad that there are close and friendly relations between our countries. It is important to cooperate with Saarbrücken, Tbilisi’s sister city. In this direction, we are ready to further deepen our relations and cover more areas of cooperation. I thank you on behalf of our country for always standing next to Georgia, supporting the territorial integrity of our country, Euro-Atlantic integration,” Kakha Kaladze said.

The German Ambassador noted that he supports Georgia’s desire to join the European Union and to further develop the country, strengthen democratic institutions.

“It is in the interests of our state that those countries that have chosen the path of democracy, pluralism and freedom develop further. Now we are still united by unity at a historic moment when Georgia wants to join the European Union. This is the best way for the development of our countries. It is important that we are following this path together, implementing specific projects. Cooperation between our cities is also important. The future of mankind is decided in cities. We must make life in the city sustainable in every possible way,” said Ernst Peter Fischer.
