Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikhail Chkhenkeli opened a conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the National Center for Assessment and Examinations.

He addressed the audience, congratulated the employees of the center on their 20th anniversary and thanked them for many years of selfless work.

The Minister stressed the importance of the activities of the National Center for Assessment and Examinations in the context of the pandemic. According to him, when most countries refused to conduct exams of this magnitude in a pandemic, the center completely changed the principle of organizing exams as soon as possible and held almost all sessions twice so that applicants with Covid also had the opportunity to take the exam.

Mikhail Chkhenkeli noted that in 2022 the National Center for Assessment and Examinations offered teachers an important novelty. For the first time, two new examinations were held for teachers of the native language and literature of non-Georgian schools – subject examinations for teachers of the Azerbaijani language and literature and the Armenian language and literature. As a result, teachers of non-Georgian-language schools got the opportunity to improve their qualifications and move up the career ladder.
