As part of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Madrid, the Georgian parliamentary delegation headed by Irakli Berai, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security, held a number of bilateral meetings, the press service of the Georgian Parliament reported.

In particular, members of the Georgian delegation met with representatives of Sweden, Finland, Turkey and Estonia.

“According to the head of the delegation, chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense and security, Irakli Berai, given the sharply deteriorating security situation, the partners are very well aware of the importance of Georgia’s accession to NATO, which gives grounds for optimism regarding the acceleration of the decision on Georgia’s accession to the alliance.

The partners firmly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. We were assured that they would continue to support Georgia in all formats and on all international platforms, as well as in various organizations,” Irakli Beraya said.

Together with Irakli Beraya, the parliamentary delegation includes First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Giorgi Khelashvili and Deputy Chairmen of the Defense and Security Committee Vladimir Chachibaia and Teona Akubardia.
