I wish there were more moderate statements addressed to the US Ambassador

As Irakli Garibashvili noted during his speech in parliament, it is his personal duty and the duty of the authorities to preserve and strengthen relations with the US and the EU as much as possible.

“As the head of government and as one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream team, I declare and have always said this – it is our duty and my personal obligation to preserve and strengthen our partnership to the maximum, friendly relations with the main strategic partner – the United States, the European Union, with European states, with everyone and not only with them. We have very good relations with everyone in the region.

My position is simple and unequivocal. There is no reason for speculation here. We have a strategic partnership with the USA. These relations began after the country gained independence. Personally, it is unacceptable for me, I would prefer more moderate statements addressed to the same US ambassador. I think so, this is my opinion. If there are questions, then yes, we will ask them, but of course, moderation cannot be violated. We are a small state, but with a very strong people. We are one of the most ancient nations with more than 3000 years of history, our own culture, civilization, language, faith, and we need very pragmatic, reasonable, moderate actions and policies. This is my position. I may have disagreements with my former teammates, some may disagree with me, some may have different opinions, this is a democratic, constitutional right of all people. Therefore, we will not condemn or criticize anyone, everyone has their own opinion. Let’s talk, hold debates, share opposing thoughts with each other, but such insults cannot be done, this is unacceptable. Our main task should be to establish peace,” the Prime Minister said.
