Meeting of speakers of parliaments of Georgia and Armenia was held in Tbilisi

Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Alen Simonyan. The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is on an official visit to Tbilisi.

During the visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the committees for foreign affairs and culture of the two parliaments. As Papuashvili stated, it will further deepen the existing rich cultural ties between countries and peoples.

The speaker also assured that Georgia is ready to continue acting as a mediator between Armenia and Azerbaijan so that the South Caucasus region becomes an example of peace and cooperation.

“I hope we will show everyone, and especially our young generation, that even in the face of the most difficult problems, the peoples of the South Caucasus can build a peaceful future wisely and on the basis of mutual cooperation,” Papuashvili said.
