“After analyzing the current situation, it turned out that compared to other countries, our legislation is many times more liberal. In European countries, more stringent sanctions are applied in this direction.
Unfortunately, the number of crimes committed with the use of edged weapons has increased significantly. According to the latest statistics, 54% of murders are committed with melee weapons. The main goal of the amendments is the prevention of crimes,” Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia Alexander Darakhvelidze told the deputies.
