The International Paralympic Committee has suspended Russia’s membership in the organization

The International Paralympic Committee at the Extraordinary General Assembly suspended the membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee in the organization. It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Twitter of the International Paralympic Committee.

64 delegates voted for the exclusion of Russia, 39 voted against. Another 16 delegates abstained. According to the committee, the Russian Federation is not capable of fulfilling its obligations in accordance with the charter of the International Paralympic Committee.

Russia can appeal the decision, but only the general assembly of the committee can lift the suspension of membership, and not earlier than at the end of 2023.

Earlier it was reported that the International Olympic Committee did not allow the Russian Federation and Belarus to the tender for the rights to broadcast two Olympics.

We also wrote that the Independent Organization for the Fight against Doping in Athletics announced a new punishment for the Russian athlete Natalya Antyukh. She was stripped of her gold medal won at the 2012 Olympics.
