Georgian Dream will start a new wave of political persecution

“Georgian Dream” during the whole process pretends to be either deaf or blind, saying that it cannot read well what they write, does not understand what they are told, therefore the Foreign Affairs Committee repeated it again, – this is how the Secretary General assesses “Lelo” Badri Japaridze report on Georgia, prepared by the Committee of the European Parliament.

As Badri Japaridze stated in the Newsroom of the Day program on the Palitranews TV channel, the report clearly states what is meant by oligarchic rule and what Georgia needs to obtain the status of an EU candidate.

According to Badri Japaridze, the old propaganda tool that supposedly some lobbyists manage to make certain amendments to the resolution no longer works, since the resolution was initiated by the Socialist Party, of which Georgian Dream itself is a member.

Badri Japaridze also spoke about the law on deoligarchization prepared by Georgian Dream, and noted that he and his teammates expect increased repression from Dream.

“We are ready for increased repression by the Georgian Dream. “Georgian Dream” will increase repressions, start a new wave of persecution of political opponents. This force in power does not care about the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission, but tries to use it to persecute political opponents, because neither Ukrainian nor any other law stipulates that I or Mamuka Khazaradze, it turns out, should be included in the oligarchic register. This is political persecution.

Georgian Dream can imprison opponents, use all state institutions to damage the reputation of opponents. Everything can be expected from the Georgian Dream, and therefore, when you are an opposition party, under the conditions of the rule of the Georgian Dream, you need to be ready for any repression. These repressions have been going on for the third year, but this cannot break us. The more repressions, the greater will be our efforts to direct the country along the path of democratic development,” Badri Japaridze said.

During the broadcast, Badri Japaridze also spoke about the procedure for electing the Public Defender, noting that Lelo would only support candidates from the civil sector.

“We only support candidates from the civil sector and it is immediately clear why Georgian Dream does not support any of the candidates presented by the civil sector. This is because they do not obey their dictates and will not work under their influence,” Badri Japaridze said.
