Khatia Dekanoidze, chairman of the National Movement faction, refutes the rumors that her candidacy is being considered for the post of party chairman.

As Dekanoidze told reporters, she has not considered this issue so far and is not considering it now.

“No, I do not consider this issue, I am not the person for whom others can make decisions. Now for the National Movement it is very important, first of all, the state of health of Mikheil Saakashvili, and this state of health and his transfer are primarily a concern for me and many of my friends. Elections are a democratic process, no one was against the elections. I have not considered my candidacy and I am not considering it, because I really think that I have a very important function in the party and in parliament,” she said.

Recall that some of the members of the “National Movement” demand holding intra-party elections. In particular, one of the leaders of the party, Irakli Nadiradze, and representatives of regional organizations held a briefing yesterday, at which they demanded that the political council and secretariat of the party be re-staffed, and that a new chairman be elected.

Nika Melia, chairman of the National Movement, responded to this statement. He noted that he was, is and will be ready to participate in any elections. According to him, the issue of elections was agreed in the party, and the subject of discussion was only the timing and procedural issues, “when and how the elections will be held.”
