UK Ambassador urges Georgian political parties to work together to implement EU recommendations

When asked about the report on Georgia adopted by the Committee on Foreign Relations of the European Parliament with compromise amendments, the British Ambassador replied that he had not yet read the said document.
Mark Clayton also noted that the UK is no longer a member of the European Union and, therefore, is not directly involved in the process of working on the 12 recommendations of the European Commission.
“However, the UK supports Georgia’s aspirations to join the European Union and, of course, NATO. There is a very basic democratic point behind this, namely that the Georgian people have declared that they want to join the EU and NATO. And all the major political parties say they support this membership too. Our position is that we call on all political parties to work together to fulfill the 12 requirements of the European Commission,” said Mark Clayton.
