
US has provided more than $18.9 billion in military aid to Ukraine since January 2021 – Pentagon

Today, the Pentagon announced the provision of $400 million in military assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). Unlike the Presidential Expenditure Reduction Authority (PDA) program, under which the United States provides Ukraine with weapons from the stockpiles of the Department of Defense, contracts with industry are financed by USAI.
The US Department of Defense clarified that the new package includes:
– financing the modernization of Hawk air defense missiles for inclusion in future military assistance packages;
– 45 modernized T-72B tanks with improved optics, communications and armor;
– 1100 Phoenix Ghost tactical unmanned aerial vehicles;
– 40 armored river boats;
– funding the repair of 250 M1117 armored personnel carriers;
– tactical secure communication and surveillance systems;
– financing of training, maintenance and support.
