US announces new aid package for Ukraine
This was announced by Deputy Pentagon Speaker Sabrina Sing at a briefing in Washington, writes “European Truth”.
The US and the Netherlands will jointly pay for the restoration of T-72 tanks, which are stored in the Czech Republic.
“These tanks will come from the Czech Republic. The United States will pay for the restoration of 45 units. And the Dutch government, in accordance with its obligations, will pay for another 45 tanks. Therefore, in total, there will be 90 tanks sent to Ukraine. These will be technically advanced tanks,” Sing said.
Some of these tanks will be handed over to Ukraine before the end of this year, the rest – within the next year.
The new aid package includes 250 M1117 armored personnel carriers, 40 armored boats, Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems and 1,100 Phoenix Ghost drones.
Regarding the drones, the Pentagon did not give an exact date for deliveries to Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the United States has sent about $17.6 billion worth of security assistance to Kyiv.
Recall that US President Joe Biden promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Washington would provide Ukraine with advanced air systems after a devastating rocket attack from Russia earlier this month.
