Representatives of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Hungary and Romania will soon reach an agreement on the supply of electricity to the EU, Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili said in an interview with the Imedi TV channel.

“In the near future, an agreement will be reached between Georgia, Romania, Hungary and Azerbaijan so that all four countries can simultaneously implement this project, because this is an investment of several billion and at the same time it will make it possible to connect Georgia directly to the EU energy structures,” he said. he.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during his working visit to Georgia last week that Baku is going to supply 157 GW of electricity to international markets through Georgia.

A week earlier, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov visited Tbilisi. At a meeting with Davitashvili, he discussed the possibility of laying a power line under the Black Sea, a project that Georgia and Azerbaijan are hoping to implement with the participation of Romania and Hungary.

The day before, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, following talks with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili in Budapest, said that Hungary needs to purchase electricity from Azerbaijan through Georgia.
