The European Commission has recommended granting Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate status for EU membership. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhey, presenting the report of the European Commission.

At the same time, the EU expects from Bosnia and Herzegovina the approval of amendments to the current law on the Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the adoption of a new law on the courts, the prevention of conflicts of interest and the adoption of decisive measures to prevent and combat corruption and organized crime.

Bosnia and Herzegovina applied for EU membership in 2016.
