“The United States has a plan of action in case Russia uses nuclear weapons,” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told CBS.

According to Blinken, Washington has been in contact with Moscow about the threat of using nuclear weapons, because it is important for Russia to understand that the consequences will be dire. The US Secretary of State reiterated that if Russia stops fighting, the war will end, if Ukraine stops fighting, it will end.

“We have heard a lot of irresponsible rhetoric from Vladimir Putin, but we are focused on ensuring that we all act responsibly, especially when it comes to such rhetoric. Vladimir Putin has a clear way out of the war he started in order to end it. Any use of nuclear weapons will have catastrophic consequences – certainly not only for the country that uses them, but for many others.

President Biden has decided that we are doing everything we can to help Ukrainians defend themselves, rally other countries, and put pressure on Russia. We are also determined to stop this war and prevent it from expanding,” Blinken said.
