Speaker of the Georgian Parliament met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Germany

The Chairman of the Parliament stressed at the meeting that Georgia and Germany have traditionally strong and friendly relations. They noted the importance of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany.

Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to Germany for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia and the European future, as well as for the outstanding contribution of Germany to the institutional and socio-economic development of Georgia.

The parties spoke about the ongoing work process towards the implementation of the EU recommendations. The visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Germany and the planned visit of the Speaker of the Parliament to Berlin were also considered.

Peter Fischer reaffirmed Germany’s firm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. According to the German ambassador, Germany will continue to help Georgia on its way to joining the European Union.
