The FSB of Russia announced the advancement of an armored personnel carrier to the border with Georgia in case people standing in line decide to break through the border.

“The armored personnel carrier is moving there, but it is not moving to set up a checkpoint, it is, roughly speaking, a reserve just in case the reservists want to break through the checkpoint and leave the country without completing any border formalities. For this purpose only. No checkpoints will be set up… The checkpoint is operating normally, no restrictions on the exit of male citizens of military age have been introduced, ”the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania told RBC.

Earlier, eyewitnesses reported the appearance of an armored personnel carrier with the Russian military on the road near the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia. The photos, in particular, were published in the telegram channel of blogger Nikolay Levshits and in the Upper Lars chat.

Today, human rights activist Pavel Chikov said that Russian border guards at the Upper Lars checkpoint began to refuse to leave the country for Georgia to citizens liable for military service.

Rumors that the authorities may declare martial law and close borders have been circulating since the announcement of mobilization last week. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that no decisions have yet been made on this issue, writes the BBC.
