About 23,000 Russian citizens own real estate in Georgia.

This is stated in the response of the National Public Registry Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia to the request of MP Nika Machutadze.

“As of August 23, 2022, 22,719 citizens of the Russian Federation are the owners of real estate in Georgia,” the response says.

At the same time, the department explains that we are talking only about citizens of Russia, and not about those persons who simultaneously have citizenship of Georgia.

“The register of rights to real estate reflects the passport / personal data of a citizen of Georgia, without indicating information about the citizenship of another country, therefore, identification of a person with citizenship of Georgia and the Russian Federation at the same time using the existing database is impossible,” the Ministry of Justice said.

At the same time, there was no request in the deputy’s request to clarify how the volume of real estate owned by Russian citizens has changed in recent years.
