According to the Ronin travel club, the Russian military were seen taking pictures on the territory of the Lomis church on Sunday, September 4.
Lomis Church dedicated to George the Victorious is located on the ridge separating Dusheti municipality and occupied Akhalgori. According to the occupying forces, this is where the “border” between Georgia and de facto South Ossetia passes.
The church can be reached from Akhalgori and Dusheti along hiking trails.
Netgazeti unsuccessfully tried to contact the State Security Service of Georgia on this issue throughout the day. After receiving a response from the State Security Service, the material will be updated.
On the feast of the Epiphany, pilgrims from all over Georgia come to the church of St. George in Lomisa. The church has the status of a monument of Georgian architecture.
