The alleged culprit of the fire that destroyed six houses was detained

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia reports on the detention of a man who, according to investigators, started a fire in the yard of his house in the village of Elbakiantkari while intoxicated to dispose of waste.
According to the materials of the investigation, the villagers warned him about the possible dire consequences of the fire and asked him to put out the fire. The man did not agree and drove the neighbors away. The fire began to spread, as a result of which six houses and adjacent buildings and gardens burned down. The damage is estimated at 300 thousand lari.
If found guilty, the man faces a prison term of six to ten years. The investigation is underway under subparagraph “A” of Part 2 and Part 3 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
