NPP Employees Tortured Into Keeping Quiet – Kyiv Post

The Security Service of the Russian Federation is torturing employees of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to convince them not to inform IAEA inspectors about safety risks at the plant.

Reports of employees at the Zaporizhzhya NPP being subjected to torture were made today by the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense press service. Some employees have disappeared, and their fate and current location are unknown.

“A section of the employees who, for various reasons, agreed to cooperate with the occupiers are being specially prepared to create the impression among the members of the Mission that local residents fully support the actions of the occupiers.” The Intelligence Directorate report also says that Russian technologists are working with collaborators to prepare a scenario that will create the necessary “picture” for the Kremlin.

On August 31, after communicating with an employee of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, nuclear energy expert Olha Kosharna reported on her Facebook page about numerous beatings, torture with electricity and gas, rape of women, and cutting off the genitals of men. The occupiers have created a torture chamber in the power plant’s police and fire department which is located in the center of the Energodar.

According to the Center for Combating Disinformation, in this way, the Russian occupiers are creating the conditions that will lead the IAEA inspectors to draw conclusions favorable to the Russians and blame Ukraine for any problems.

The special services of the Russian Federation have created a letter to representatives of the IAEA accusing the Ukrainian military of shelling the nuclear power plant. Currently, the Russians are collecting signatures from the population of Energodar for a statement demanding an end to the shelling of the nuclear plant, allegedly by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The shelling of Energodar on the eve of the arrival of the IAEA mission was staged by the Russians to discredit the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian journalists filmed the consequences of the shelling.

The largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the Zaporizhzhya NPP, was captured by the Russian military on March 4, at the beginning of the full-scale war and Ukrainian station employees were taken hostage. Russian military personnel and Rosatom employees are now stationed at the NPP.
