The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has been helping the Ukrainian military prepare for a counteroffensive in the south over the past two months by meeting specific requests for military assistance. According to European Pravda, CNN reports this with reference to a White House official.

It is noted that the United States granted “many requests” from the Ukrainian side – in particular, for additional ammunition, artillery and Javelin anti-tank missile systems – as part of military aid packages provided over the past two months.

While the US aid packages were announced publicly, it was not indicated at the time that they were intended in part to help Ukraine in its current counter-offensive in the Russian-occupied south.

As CNN reminds, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, are constantly in touch with the Ukrainian side to determine its needs, depending on the situation on the battlefield.

Recall that on August 29, the Kakhovka task force reported that Ukrainian defenders destroyed almost all major bridges near Kherson and broke through the first line of “defense” of Russian troops in the Kherson region.

As reported, the White House has seen reports that Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive against Russian forces in the south, but does not want to comment on specific Ukrainian military operations.
