The Department of Strategic Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia calls the rumors that the police are leaving the ministry en masse a lie. As noted in a statement issued by the Department of Strategic Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the departure of employees and the hiring of new employees is a common workflow, as well as the announcement of vacancies on the website of the Ministry in order to recruit new personnel.

“We would like to respond to the false information spread in recent days by the media that police officers are leaving the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs en masse, which is the reason for the contests announced by the department.

The Department of Strategic Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in response to an attempt to mislead the public, has repeatedly explained and once again we note that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is one of the largest departments in the country, employing up to 40,000 people. Accordingly, leaving employees and hiring new employees is a common workflow. Also, the usual workflow is the announcement of vacancies on the website of the Ministry in order to recruit new personnel, maintaining relevant communications openly and transparently.

As for the competition announced on August 17 this year for 145 different vacancies in the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry in Tbilisi and the regions, it is due to an increase in the flow of passengers and vehicles at all border checkpoints, as well as an increase in the number of patrol police crews in the regions.

After the easing of restrictions that existed during the pandemic, the movement of people and vehicles at checkpoints returned to the previous regime, and at this stage there is a significant growth trend.

In addition, the international airports of Kutaisi and Batumi were expanded, air routes were added and the number of flights increased dramatically. In order to better manage the increased flows, the infrastructure of several land crossings has been redesigned. Accordingly, in order to search for qualified personnel, taking into account the current situation and as a result of assessing the situation, the staff list of the patrol police is constantly reviewed and, if necessary, the staff units are increased,” the information says.
