The presidential administration has spread information that the meeting of the leaders of the countries did not take place, as they were not notified about it in advance and, therefore, the rules of the protocol were not observed.
The meeting of the Azerbaijani leader eventually took place with the Prime Minister of the country Irakli Garibashvili.
“Based on the importance of the issue, the Administration of the President of Georgia considers it appropriate to inform the public that the President was not informed about the working visit to Georgia of the President of our neighboring and friendly state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Despite the desire and readiness of the President of Georgia, unfortunately, the meeting between the presidents did not take place, which is traditionally held during the visits of all heads of state.
The President of Georgia once again expresses its readiness and desire to receive the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on an official visit in the near future,” the statement says.
