Occupiers steal monuments to Suvorov and Ushakov when fleeing Kherson

The Russian occupiers have dismantled monuments to Russian generals Oleksandr Suvorov and Fedor Ushakov in Kherson and taken them with them as they fled the city

Details: The Russians have explained that they stole the monuments in order to “preserve unique artworks from shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

A bust of Suvorov was installed in Kherson in 1950 to mark the 150th anniversary of his death.



 

A statue of Admiral Ushakov was installed in 1957 near the building of the Kherson State Maritime Academy on the avenue of the same name.
