Cars with the logo of Gazprom, which is under Western sanctions due to Russia’s war in Ukraine, appeared at the railway depot in Batumi.

The Georgian Railways stated that the wagons were transporting Kazakh fuel.

“Often such wagons are used by Kazakhstan, as well as other countries of Central Asia – Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, which send cargo to Europe. Georgia is a transit country,” the company said and added: there were no and are no cargoes under sanctions or goods belonging to persons under sanctions in Georgia.

This is not the first time that cars with the Gazprom logo have been seen in the country. Last month, similar footage circulated in the media, then Tbilisi also stated that they were transporting oil from a Kazakh company to Europe through Georgia.
