The international community should clearly state that Tskhinvali and Abkhazia were and always will be the territory of Georgia
Kinzinger says there is nothing surprising in the act of the incumbent leader of Belarus, but it is important that the international community sound clear messages regarding the occupied territories of Georgia.
“It’s really no wonder that a despot from Belarus does everything as Moscow dictates to him, but the international community must make it clear that Tskhinvali and Abkhazia have been and will always be Georgian territory,” the congressman said.
Late on the evening of September 28, a press release appeared on the official website of the President of Belarus about his visit to occupied Abkhazia. The press release states that Lukashenka was “on the northeastern coast of the Black Sea.”
Adam Kinzinger believes that Lukashenka’s “visit” to Abkhazia is connected with the Kremlin’s failures in Ukraine, and against the background of aggravated threats in the Georgian region, one should act especially carefully.
“Now that Putin’s campaign in Ukraine is waning, Georgians should be wary of any potential move by the Kremlin. Georgia is very aware of all the threats that the Kremlin poses to their sovereignty and the Georgian people should not believe the false anti-Western narratives that are being spread, Kinzinger says.
Recall that Alexander Lukashenko visited Abkhazia on September 28. Before that, he visited Sochi, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
