Russian President Vladimir Putin used a meeting of former Soviet states on Thursday to call on their leaders to help Russia create a new “more just world order.”

Putin delivered his comments to the heads of the various intelligence agencies of what is known as the Commonwealth of Independent States, consisting of Russia and eight former Soviet republics – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

“We are witnessing a difficult process of forming a more just world order,” Putin told them, before repeating anti-West conspiracy theories.

“We also know that the West is working out scenarios for inciting new conflicts in the CIS space,” he said. “But we already have enough of them. It is enough to look at what is happening now between Russia and Ukraine, what is happening on the borders of some other CIS countries.”

Putin also requested that the former Soviet states cooperate with Russian security agencies and intelligence services.

President Putin has repeatedly and unfoundedly attempted to frame the ongoing illegal invasion of Ukraine as an attempt to fight back against Western interference, particularly – he claims – from NATO and the UN.

Such claims, however, have been largely dismissed by Western leaders and analysts as propaganda.

Meanwhile, concerns are growing that Putin will now seek to use the recent sham referendums and planned annexation of four Ukrainian territories in the east to present Russia’s ongoing offensive as defending his nation’s territory, as opposed to the reality of it being an illegal invasion and occupation.
