Georgian Foreign Minister noted the importance of OSCE participation in the Geneva talks

At a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid in New York, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili stated the importance of the organization’s participation in the Geneva discussions on security and stability in the Transcaucasus. This was reported on Wednesday in the press service of the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

“Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili met with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid within the framework of the UN General Assembly. <...> The importance of the participation of the organization in the Geneva talks and the need to achieve progress in the specified format was emphasized,” the statement said.

The Georgian side thanked the OSCE Secretary General for keeping the issue of Georgia on the agenda of the organization and participation in the process of peaceful settlement of conflicts, the press service added.

Darchiashvili is in New York as part of an official delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who plans to speak at debates at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
