Another fired employee won a dispute with the Ministry of Culture of Georgia

Vakhtang Baramashvili, a lawyer for one of the employees fired from the Ministry of Culture in July 2021, says his client, who wished to remain anonymous for the time being, won a legal dispute with the Ministry of Culture.

On August 29, Baramashvili posted on Facebook a photocopy of Judge Baya Otiashvili’s decision in the case, according to which the Human Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Culture was ordered to reinstate a senior specialist of the second category and pay him compensation for monthly downtime from the date of his dismissal – July 1, 2021 – until execution solutions.

In a conversation with the Pirveli TV company, Vakhtang Baramashvili noted that his client is a “rather high-ranking”, “highly qualified” employee who for years had “the highest rating of an employee”.

“The court directly stated that the decision made on the dismissal order was unlawful and this decision was not based on the law and objective grounds,” he stressed.

Earlier, on August 9, the Center for Social Justice NGO stated that the court had also declared illegal the dismissal of Dinara Vachnadze, an employee of the National Museum, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture.

It is noteworthy that after her appointment as Minister of Culture, Teya Tsulukiani is actively accused of “persecuting” free opinion in institutions subordinate to her and dismissing employees “for political reasons.”

Similar accusations were heard during her tenure as Minister of Justice. For example, according to the non-governmental organization Transparency International Georgia, as of February 2022, the budget had to pay 332,172 GEL due to the “illegal dismissal” of employees from the system during the tenure of Teya Tsulukiani as Minister of Justice.
