The prosecutor’s office charged 25 citizens with drug offenses

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia brought charges against 18 persons for the acquisition, storage, sale and attempted sale of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale and 7 persons for the acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on an especially large scale.

According to information released by the General Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, it was established that 18 persons were systematically involved in the sale of drugs in exchange for sums of money. According to them, 7 defendants illegally stored narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in especially large amounts.

“In the period from October 8 to November 1, 2022, based on the relevant court decisions, searches of residential buildings and personal searches of the above persons were carried out in stages, after which they were detained.

The detainees were charged in accordance with parts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of article 260; 2, 3, 5 and 8 parts of Article 273′; 4, 5 and 7 parts of article 19,260, as well as part 7 of article 261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 14 to 20 years or indefinitely as a punishment.

The prosecutor’s office has already filed a petition with the court to apply a measure of restraint in the form of imprisonment against the accused,” the report says.
