A new rule for financing clinics has come into force

From today, the reform of financing of medical services comes into force.

According to the Ministry of Health, settlements with clinics participating in the Universal Health Program will be carried out according to the DRG model.

The department explains that the DRG system automatically calculates the fair price that the state will pay for the quality treatment of citizens.

According to the Ministry of Health, after the introduction of the new method, the same service will have a single tariff in all clinics. The patient will only pay the amount included in the co-payment share (between 0 and 30%, depending on the packages) under the universal healthcare program. The clinic will no longer charge additional fees for patients participating in the Universal Health Program.

According to the Ministry of Health, DRG is a widely tested funding model in the developed world. The amount of funding under the new system is determined by the patient’s diagnosis, age, duration of hospitalization and other criteria. The method increases the efficiency of the health care system as a whole and allows the use of financial resources available in the health care system to a greater extent for the needs of the patient.
