The police detained four people in Tbilisi who were stealing money from the bank accounts of citizens, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports today.
The investigation established that by deceiving citizens, the accused, without permission, gained access to their bank accounts using their own mobile phones, from where they transferred large sums of money.
The amount of damage established at this stage exceeds 100 thousand lari.
The investigation continues on the facts of illegal penetration into the computer system and theft on a large scale (points “a” and “b” of part 2 of article 286-1, part 1 of article 284 and point “b” of part 4 of article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia). The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of six to ten years.
