Since January 2021, Georgian border guards have denied entry to the Schengen zone to 3,684 citizens of Georgia

From January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022 inclusive, Georgian border guards denied 3,684 citizens of Georgia entry into the Schengen area.

Information about this was provided to IPN by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

At the same time, during 2021, 1,922 cases of refusal to enter the Schengen area were recorded, and over the past 9 months – 1,810.

In the period from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022 inclusive, the most people were not allowed into the Schengen zone – 325 citizens of Georgia in December 2021.

It should also be noted here that the statistics of refusals to travel to the Schengen area has been increasing sharply since June 2021. If in April and May 2021 there were 17 and 60 cases of refusal, then in June the indicated figure was 190.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not specify, for violation of which criteria of the rules for entering the Schengen zone, Georgian citizens were most often denied a trip.
